1st Pod Cast Question 3 (Drums)

This blog post contains just the 3rd proposed questions from Deidre Reigel for the “Deidre Reigel Hope and Healing Radio Show ” & my projected answers.

The following is taken from a rough draft I wrote in preparation for the Interview & was open to any changes & suggestions. We didn’t stick specifically to this as a script but it allowed me to stay on topic.

To hear the whole show for that day go to: “Deidre Reigel Hope and Healing Interviews Tom Bailey” on YouTube If you enjoy it be sure to give it a 👍 like 👍 and subscribe for more interesting & inspiring pod casts.

Here is basically how I answered just the 3rd question.

Deidre asked: You played drums for the performance company for your last two years of high school and on into your college and career age years but now because of your polyneuropathy and the trouble using your legs, do you still play the drums?

My answer: Everybody who knows me and those who have known me for a long time, that’s the first question they always ask me.

I’m glad to say,

 “YES, yes I do.”

The great thing is, in this day and age we have electric drums and I have what’s called SPD-30 Rowland Octapad.

It’s 8 rubber pads on a desk top like contraption that offer so many different drumsets & percussion sound effects.

I have the ability to record with it so I will put it in front of me, like a desk, I will sit in my wheelchair, or as I prefer the geri chair, so I can play a little bit and then I can lean back, to take the pressure off my hips and legs.

It’s great because I can still use my arms and I can play all the parts. The parts I use to play with my feet I am now able to play with my hands.

When handicapped or disabled in one way or another you just have to live life & “do life” a little differently but the important thing is that

you still do it & find what allows you to do it insite of whatever opposition you face.

When your desire to do anything is strong enough you find a way to fullfill that desire. It may not look like what others do, it may not be done the way others do it but you’re still accomplishing something and that really makes you feel good all over because you are accomplishing something.

When we are able to express what is in our hearts it is then that we grow and progress and can accomplish much.

Often it is the little things that matter the most.

This concludes the answer to question 3.  To read the other questions & my answers go to:
