Matthew 5:3 MSG reminds us,

“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.”

John answered, “It’s not possible for a person to succeed—I’m talking about eternal success—without heaven’s help.

You yourselves were there when I made it public that I was not the Messiah but simply the one sent ahead of him to get things ready.

The one who gets the bride is, by definition, the bridegroom. And the bridegroom’s friend, his ‘best man’—that’s me—in place at his side where he can hear every word, is genuinely happy.

How could he be jealous when he knows that the wedding is finished and the marriage is off to a good start?

“That’s why my cup is running over. This is the assigned moment for him to move into the center, while I slip off to the sidelines. (John 3:29‭-‬30 MSG)

“He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30 NIV)

HE > i

“The One who comes from above is head and shoulders over other messengers from God.

The earthborn is earthbound and speaks earth language; the heavenborn is in a league of his own.

He sets out the evidence of what he saw and heard in heaven.

No one wants to deal with these facts.

But anyone who examines this evidence will come to stake his life on this: that God himself is the truth.

“The One that God sent speaks God’s words. And don’t think he rations out the Spirit in bits and pieces.

The Father loves the Son extravagantly

He turned everything over to him so he could give it away—a lavish distribution of gifts.

That is why whoever accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever!

And that is also why the person who avoids and distrusts the Son is in the dark and doesn’t see life. All he experiences of God is darkness, and an angry darkness at that.” John 3:31‭-‬36 MSG

Sending An Angel (myth busting & reality)

Myth busting & reality – the Scriptural Pictorial of Angels

Although we don’t see them there is documented evidence that God sends angels to earth.

I’m no ‘angel expert’. Years ago I did a study on angels & I’ve reviewed & studied other’s research and more on the subject since then.

No where in the Bible have I found that people become angels when they die.

No where have I seen God describe angels as babies with wings in His Word (The Bible).

No where in the Bible have I even read angels described as having two wing.

I have seen documentation in The Bible of other heavenly beings like cherubs, seraphim & other creatures but every time the Bible mentions “angels” (that I’ve noted) they seem to be men and there is ussually something that causes some kind of fear in those seeing them because they almost always tell the human they are visiting,  “don’t be afraid.”

I have noted that in Hebrews 13:2 we are told “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2 NIV (

We are also warned in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14 ESV). So we must be careful not to get caught up or preoccupied with the thought of angels nor offer prayer to them rather than to God almighty who is above and over all.

The study of angels is fascinating but angels are not to be worshipped, that is for Christ alone. The Bible does give evidence that angels not only exist but are sent by God to help us. We may never fully understand or know much about angels but we can find comfort that they are servants of God and God uses them to minister to us as they ministered to Christ…after Jesus was tempted then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him (Matthew 4:11 ESV).

I won’t get into the deep theology or images that may be completely an artists imagination and whether they are Biblical correct or pure myth but I  just find reassurance that angels, whatever they are like, how ever they look God sends them…
Exodus 23:20‭-‬22 -“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you (Exodus 23:20‭-‬22 NIV).

Psalm 91:11‭-‬12 -For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11‭-‬12 NIV

I love to draw angels and picture them as warriors with big Hugh wings…

(I didn’t draw this one)

And I guess there is nothing really wrong with that. It may not be accurate according to what the Bible tells us angels are like in reality and I love the book

Frank E. Peretti goes into fictional detail of what we can’t see but uses imagination to portray God’s intervention. (Piercing The Darkness is the 2nd in that series of his – both are great!)

So, praise God from whom all blessing flow, seen and unseen, realized and unrecognized HE does so much more than we’ll ever know.

Night Terrors Experience

Note – God doesn’t promise that night terrors, let alone harsh experiences while we are awake, won’t come.

On the contrary, they will come but when they do, when we are ‘in the valley of the shadow of death’ He does promise He’ll be with us in those times.

Jesus said,

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV

Psalm 91 (NIV) –

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord , “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord , “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Psalm 91:1‭-‬16 NIV

While IN THOSE TIMES OF TERROR during the day, mid-day and night He is with us who put our love & trust in Him. The Scriptures tell us He sends angels !

Not everyone goes through terrors and it is a cold hard fact that bad things happen to good people (Matt 5:45)

Regardless of our faith we may experience terrible things the only difference is we know who’s hand to hold & who holds the future regardless of what the future holds (Jer. 29:11).

I have a friend,  Gary Schutt

He suffered with what he thought were ‘night terrors’ when he was a child. As an adult he experienced it again. The fact is that it is actually ‘sleep paralysis’.
This video is his creative way of expressing his experience…

Watch “Gary Schutt – Night Terror” on YouTube

He gives facts about this experience during the video (be sure to read them) and clarifies what is happening with our bodies during what some call ‘night terrors’ –

Video should appear below, if not for some reason, click link to YouTube:

Gary has faith and very strong & high morals/standards. We’ve shared the common interest in music & the music industry, as well as, a genuine concern for each other over the past 17 years.
It is a true honor to be friends with such a talented person but also a true privileged to have a ‘brother’ like him. Iron sharpens iron.

In God we trust, Beetle

The Message Translation of Ps. 91-

You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,

Say this: “ God , you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.

Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door.

He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,”

says God , “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me.

Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;

 I’ll rescue you, then

throw you a party.

I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!

Psalm 91:1‭-‬16 MSG

It is all going to be okay, just hold on.

Go to👉A stare into the face of suicide for my personal struggle and experience that I have to let God fight for me continually.
While in this body,👉 in this earth suit and in this world each of our journeys will be different but we all have our creator & each other to see us through.

Personal note- Faith is important but while here in this body don’t hesitate to get professional help with physical & psychological issues along with a pastor or friend who encourages you Spiritually. Remember we have our bodies (physical) our brains (psychological) and Souls (Spiritual) sides that we are trying to live with.  I am going thru my own things and I’m more than willing to share & help in any way I can but you & I can’t battle these demons only God can truly handle these torturous times.

God will help us in all 3 areas;

  •  physically,
  • mentally &
  • spiritually

and one of the ways He does that is through

  • professionals,
  • each other & directly
  • one on one with each individual in a relationship with Him.

God bless you. You, bless God.

GOD Answering The Call

There are links within the Scriptures below. Click on the words in a different color to go to post I wrote going deeper into those subjects.

Those subjects are also at end of post.

I love the Lord , for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
Psalm 116:1‭-‬2 NIV

I love God because he listened to me, listened as I begged for mercy. He listened so intently as I laid out my case before him.

Death stared me in the face, hell was hard on my heels.

Up against it, I didn’t know which way to turn; then I called out to God for help: “Please, God !” I cried out. “Save my life!” God is gracious—it is he who makes things right, our most compassionate God. God takes the side of the helpless; when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me.

Psalm 116:1‭-‬6 MSG

I will call on him as long as I live.
While my wife was in the hospital we read Psalm 116:1‭-‬2 NIV (at top of post) then the hospital chaplain came in and shared these verses from Psalm 91 –

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God , “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me.

Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”

Psalm 91:14‭-‬16 MSG

He is our only hope.

Classic Christian Rock, “Stryper” with the song, “Calling on You”

Array & Decay

When Facing this mucked up world with the fact that it  & all of us in it are slowly dieing it would be easy to lose heart and become naturally depressed. It’s really just a wake up call on how much we need our creator’s intervention.

Part of the lyrics to the song “Natural Science” by Rush are brought this to mind…

The mess and the magic

Triumphant and tragic
A mechanized world out of hand

Computerized clinic
For superior cynics
Who dance to a synthetic band

In their own image
Their world is fashioned
No wonder they don’t understand.”

It is difficult to find hope in & of this world. There are a few things in nature that show us life is viscous but everything seems to serve a purpose. Even so, when you are brought face to face with your loved one dieing or you face death yourself it is awful hard to make sense of the confusion & chaos.

During one of the harshest times of my life, having lost the use of my legs, losing my job then losing my son I wrote two stories  Season of Jail & Season of Prison. They are metaphorical of my personal experiences.

Nothing in this world is permanent. Everything we see is not going to be around forever. The good and the bad times are all temporary. There is a season, a time, for every thing.

Remember the 4 seasons we see every year all around us:

  •  Summer then
  • Fall then,
  • Winter followed by,
  • Spring , where everything that died has  a chance to come back to life.

No matter how bad things are there is hope in our creator. God was in beginning, at the start of it all, miraculously putting galaxies & planets & people into place. He will also be at the end, or what we’d consider to be the end of our world as we know it. What we see as the end is only a week beginning.

He made this world to eventually be disposed of and for us (mankind) to return to a garden of Eden environment (HEAVEN👈post giving a Scriptural Pictorial of what Heaven is like)

We may find peace by getting through the seasons of life but we’ll find ultimate & eternal peace by knowing that there is so much more after we’ve left this world.

While I am here I hope that I can offer hope to all I meet, regardless of the array & decay.

“Away From Array & Decay”

I look forward to a day

When I travel far away

From all the array & decay

I believe there’s a place

Where I’ll see Jesus face to face

I’ll miss you and you’ll miss me

But that is the place where we need to be

Away from all array & decay

With our Savior not just today

But forever and ever and evermore

That’s what we have in store

Away, away, AWAY!!! A way

from the array & decay

Where HIS GLORY is on display

THE WAY (away), THE WAY (away), Yahweh is the way away from from the array and decay.

In Christ, Beetle

‘Mourning’ In The Morning.

I hate mornings, ussually.  Well,  hate is a strong word but let’s just say in the morning my body may be moving but it is like a zombie without a brain !

But I will sing of Your (my Lord, my God) mighty strength and power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning; for You have been to me a defense (a fortress and a high tower) and a refuge in the day of my distress.
Psalm 59:16 AMPC

I’ve asked myself & others

  • What makes you sore?
  •  What makes you soar?

What causes pain & turmoil may be the very thing that causes you to fly higher.

The only way to start the day is to wake up and begin.  No matter how hard that beginning is there is still the opportunity for victory to come as the day progresses.

Are you mourning in the morning?

I remind myself that “Even though my brain & body don’t always work right God’s gotta hold of my heart and I’ll be just find.”

Joy comes in the morning. God gives a new day to start fresh. So, even when you’ve had a rough night and morning seems to come too soon remember it is still a blessing to be alive and given another day.

What will this day bring, will we face tragedy? What ever may come whatever may be, one thing I am sure of I’m forgiven & free and I will live what I believe.

God will fight, you just stand & be still, calm & don’t complain

-Moses and all God’s children were between the Red Sea & Pharaoh’s Army.

The people were freaking out, moaning & groaning!

They had forgotten all God’s miracles & what He did so far. They said, “We would have been better off as slaves in Egypt!”

But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:13‭-‬14 NLT

Another version says, The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14 KJV

The Message version even translates Ex. 14:14 as Moses saying, “God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!” Exodus 14:14 MSG

That is Moses talking to his people.

In another post I mentioned, had it been me in Moses’ shoes (or sandals) I would have said, *”Quit your bitchin’ people! GOD’S GOT THIS!!!”

EX.14:14 is Moses talking to the people verse 15 is God talking to Moses,

God said to Moses: “Why cry out to me? Speak to the Israelites. Order them to get moving. Hold your staff high and stretch your hand out over the sea: Split the sea! The Israelites will walk through the sea on dry ground. “Meanwhile I’ll make sure

  • the Egyptians keep up their stubborn chase—
  • I’ll use Pharaoh and his entire army, his chariots and horsemen, to put my Glory on display so that
  • the Egyptians will realize that I am God .”

Exodus 14:15‭-‬18 MSG

We always hear,

Be still & know that I am God

But that, “Before Still”, Moses is saying to the Israelites is a plead to,

Stop complaining.

Then, while they were at peace (or getting there) God told them to,

I’m not sure our life can be compared to the suffering the people of Israel had to endure but life is hard at times and we feel trapped between a sea of problems in front of us & the army of the enemy coming up our rears!

In those times I find it best to look to God, the creator of everything and remember that nothing is too big for Him to handle.

We can not battle life’s various trials. We can not survive things like the blow that a death of a loved one delivers let alone win a war against death itself; however, God can

He has before and He will again.

We just have to stop complaining,  find peace, be still and know (trust with all of our heart) that He is Sovereign. HE is able. He is God.
Don’t take my word on it. Take God at His Word. Here is the portion I’ve been blogging about,

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord . They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.

The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.

The Lord will fight for you

you need only to be still.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.” Exodus 14:10‭-‬18 NIV

  • BE still, at peace, not complaining,  not indifferent toward God
  • Move forward

  • WILL fight & win
  • Bring Glory to His name

Note- even the enemy came to see God’s glory & power. He used them and gained glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his (Pharaoh’s) chariots and his horsemen. Even  the Egyptians came to know that God is the Lord when He gained glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.

God hardened their hearts. God caused them to give chase & attempt to kill.

He will use even the worse things to show how great He is and remind us He is ultimatly in control.

So, as you face a sea of difficulty ahead of you, in your future, and are caught between that and the things chasing you, threats that got you into this spot to begin with you have one of two choices

  • Try to fight on your own by complaining & fighting it your way

  •  Stop, be still. Find peace with God and let Him fight His way.

The choice seems obvious but many times it is hard to realize we are not in control & that the battle must take place in order for there to be a victory.

Accept peace in the fact that you can not escape,  you can not fight, God will do it all & get you through it all and He will be glorified for having done it, not we ourselves.

Trusting Christ, Beetle
