Music by “Barricade” personal journal

What can I say…what can I play is a better question with a much better answer.

Back in 1980 three friends met in middle school and shared their love for music. As pre-teens they not only played their favorite records (vinyls) & cassette tapes, even a few 8Tracks, they actually got together and used musical instruments to play, or at least attempt to, make music.

After high school we seemed to see each other and reunite from time to time when fate and schedules would allowed. It was random and yet perfect timing time after time with too many years in between.

Although the gaps of time were 10 year intervals apart it was as if no time was lost and we still had a bond through music.

That was part of the inspiration for these songs, orchestrated by Tom Barrick in 2005.

I recall him moving all his recording equipment into the bedroom that was soon to be made into a nursery for my new born daughter, Olivia Bailey.

He printed out the drum parts and I worked like crazy trying to read them note for note.

We began the long tedious efforts of recording but never completed things. What you are hearing here is the orchestration Tom Barrick (Scott) recorded onto C.D.

I miss that old friend & often wonder where he is today. I’m transfering that C.D. here to try and preserve it.

The dreams of forming a working band, named “Barricade”(Barrick Aide) or something to that effect is now lost forever; however, the memories & music live on (not for public viewing or listening). Had fate allowed perhaps those 3 friends would have been a joint effort, “Barrick, Bailey & Angel”.

This recording is transferred from the only C.D. I have that Barrick originally recorded. He wanted to name the project Diversion, that’s exactly what it was, a diversion from day in day out life, giving, providing, a chance to escape by the means of art expressing and experiment with musical talents.

With all props & credit due, here is to you my forever friends,

-Tom Beetle Bailey (drums & percussion)

With honor and memories of Thomas Scott Barrick (composer, guitar, guitar synthesizer, drum programing, recording engineering, over all production and awesomeness) and

Close friend Greg Angel (Bassist)

Test recording:

track 1 take 1

Track #1 take 2

“Yack” #2

Tom got in touch with me & played this for me, let me develop the drum parts & took what Greg Angel did back in 1990 ….put it all together & laid it onto a C.D.

Great memories.

Not sure if it will upload or download or whatever but this is more for me to treasure than anything else.

There were 18 tracks on the c.d. none of them completely finished and this one you can hear the drums cut out, restart & cut out. Take after take & Tom Barrick looking for perfection I wasn’t sure if we’d ever get it done, even if we had the time

#6 experiment

#5 is alive

#14 was the one Barrick took from an old impromptu jam with me & Greg Angel

Song “Lord You Are Greater Than My Heart’ by The Zoe Group

Who believes what we’ve heard and seen?

Who would have thought God ’s saving power would look like this?

The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling, a scrubby plant in a parched field. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing to cause us to take a second look. He was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on him, thought he was scum.

But the fact is, it was our pains he carried— our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.

We thought he brought it on himself, that God was punishing him for his own failures. But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him— our sins!

He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through his bruises we get healed. We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.

We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way.

And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him, on him.

He was beaten, he was tortured, but he didn’t say a word. Like a lamb taken to be slaughtered and like a sheep being sheared, he took it all in silence. Justice miscarried, and he was led off— and did anyone really know what was happening?

He died without a thought for his own welfare, beaten bloody for the sins of my people.

They buried him with the wicked, threw him in a grave with a rich man, Even though he’d never hurt a soul or said one word that wasn’t true.

Still, it’s what God had in mind all along, to crush him with pain. The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.

And God ’s plan will deeply prosper through him.

Out of that terrible travail of soul, he’ll see that it’s worth it and be glad he did it.

Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant, will make many “righteous ones,” as he himself carries the burden of their sins.

Therefore I’ll reward him extravagantly— the best of everything, the highest honors— Because he looked death in the face and didn’t flinch, because he embraced the company of the lowest.

He took on his own shoulders the sin of the many, he took up the cause of all the black sheep.
Isaiah 53:1‭-‬12 MSG

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

(Read Hebrews 12:1‭-‬11 NIV

So don’t sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet!

Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle.

Help each other out. And run for it!

Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God’s generosity.

Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time.

Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite.

You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God’s blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.

Unlike your ancestors, you didn’t come to Mount Sinai—all that volcanic blaze and earthshaking rumble—to hear God speak. The earsplitting words and soul-shaking message terrified them and they begged him to stop. When they heard the words—“If an animal touches the Mountain, it’s as good as dead”—they were afraid to move. Even Moses was terrified. No, that’s not your experience at all. You’ve come to Mount Zion, the city where the living God resides. The invisible Jerusalem is populated by throngs of festive angels and Christian citizens. It is the city where God is Judge, with judgments that make us just. You’ve come to Jesus, who presents us with a new covenant, a fresh charter from God.

He is the Mediator of this covenant.

The murder of Jesus, unlike Abel’s—a homicide that cried out for vengeance—became a proclamation of grace.

So don’t turn a deaf ear to these gracious words.

If those who ignored earthly warnings didn’t get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on heavenly warnings?

His voice that time shook the earth to its foundations;

this time—he’s told us this quite plainly—he’ll also rock the heavens: “One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern.”

The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.

Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be?

Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God.

For God is not an indifferent bystander.

He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!
Hebrews 12:12‭-‬29 MSG

Song ‘Holy Spirit Breathe On Me’ by The Zoe Group

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you:

Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.

Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.

Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.

Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Romans 12:1‭-‬2 MSG

Free From Sin

We are all sinners but we can be sanctified, set apart for Christ. Scripture (GOD’S WORD) tells us we can be freed from sin.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:5‭-‬14 NIV

Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
Acts 13:39 NIV

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
Hebrews 9:15 NIV

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:7‭-‬9 NIV

But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Colossians 1:22‭-‬23 NIV

But the Lord is righteous; he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.”
Psalm 129:4 NIV

AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAlright ! ! !
All you people, you’re gathered here
Won’t you please lend me your ears
You think you’ve got it, you look so good
But is God’s word understood ?
He’s got a life for you and me
A life full of victory
Jesus died, Oh can’t you see
He gave His life to set us free

And I don’t care what you might say
I’m going to live for Him every day
I heard the message, I took it in
That’s why I’m living

free from sin

You can hate me, Oh I don’t care
You can laugh, but I’m still going to share
That Jesus died, He died for sin
And very soon He’s coming again
You best take care, you’re now aware
Of Jesus’ love and Jesus’ care
So don’t say no, don’t walk away
You might not see another day

And I don’t care what you might say
I’m going to live for Him every day
I heard the message, I took it in
That’s why I’m living

free from sin

And I don’t care what you might say
I’m going to live for Him every day
I heard the message, I took it in
That’s why I’m living free from sin
Free from sin

Makes me shout, “AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAlright ! !”

Why Does God Love & Choose Certain People?

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;
Deuteronomy 7:7 NKJV

As I read this Old Testament passage this morning my mind was flooded this things.

I went back to read & get the context.

As I read Deut. 7 I thought about Israel & the Jewish nation/people. My mind wandered onto the religious wars that are still going on to this day. I thought about how some just follow the first 5 books of The Bible. I began to pray for the Islamic people and Jewish people. My prayer extended to those around me and for me as well.

“Lord, may we listen to all that you say to us today, in this day & age. May we realize Your greatness & power and no think more highly of ourselves then we ought. May we realize that you don’t love any of us because of our race, popularity, culture or how many of us there are, but because of sheer love. May all people know that You bless us and show Your love, shed Your love on us out of our of sheer, pure, simple love and because You keep Your promises.

May we bless Your Holy Name.

In Jesus name and for Christ’s sake, Amen

God wasn’t attracted to you and didn’t choose you because you were big and important—the fact is, there was almost nothing to you. He did it out of sheer love, keeping the promise he made to your ancestors.

God stepped in and mightily bought you back out of that world of slavery, freed you from the iron grip of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Know this: God , your God, is God indeed, a God you can depend upon.

He keeps his covenant of loyal love with those who love him and observe his commandments for a thousand generations. But he also pays back those who hate him, pays them the wages of death; he isn’t slow to pay them off—those who hate him, he pays right on time.
Deuteronomy 7:7‭-‬10 MSG

The “Stars”

“So—who is like me? Who holds a candle to me?” says The Holy.

Look at the night skies:

Who do you think made all this?

Who marches this army of stars out each night, counts them off, calls each by name —so magnificent! so powerful!— and never overlooks a single one?

Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying,

“ God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me”?

Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?

God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.

He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.

He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.

For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.

They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
Isaiah 40:25‭-‬31 MSG

The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world.

In them He has placed a tent for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; It rejoices as a strong man to run his course. Its rising is from one end of the heavens, And its circuit to the other end of them; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.

They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord , my rock and my Redeemer.

Psalms 19:1‭-‬14 NASB

As the moon reflects the sun, so also may we be a reflection of God’s glory.

As the stars in the sky are burning chunks of fire, so also may God’s Holy Spirit burn in our lives so others may see His glory, even long after we are gone.

The real “Stars” in this life are not the most popular celebrities. The real stars are glowing brightly above the things in this world, as well as, those who let Christ, The True Light & Source, burn brightly in their lives here on earth.

This life is temporary, it will pass away, just like everything we see but, God & His Word will last forever.

Doubt is not the same as unbelief

This is from the devoted thought from Ben Young’s day 2 of the @YouVersion Plan “Room For Doubt.” Check it out here:

Sliding on Doubt
Os Guinness uses ice as a fitting illustration for the nature of doubt. Imagine a small river that’s been frozen over by a winter storm. You have a grassy bank on one side and a rocky bank on the other, with an iced-over river separating the two. If you crawled out onto the slippery ice, you would find that, in stumbling for your footing, you could slide between the two sides of the river. You could slide closer to the grassy bank or you could slide closer to the rocky bank.

Doubt is like the ice between the two banks. The grassy bank represents belief, and the rocky bank symbolizes unbelief. Doubting is the place in between belief and unbelief. In a sense, doubt is neutral. It can slide you closer to belief or closer to unbelief. I made the mistake of assuming that doubt, especially living in doubt as I did, indicated unbelief. But that’s simply not the case. Doubt is like ice. Ice is neutral. It can slide you closer to God or it can slide you farther away from Him.

If you ask people the question, “What is the opposite of love?” most of them will respond, “Hate.” But hate is not the opposite of love. Indifference is. If you ask people, “What is the opposite of faith?” most of them will respond, “Doubt.” I would suggest that the opposite of faith is not doubt; it is unbelief. Whether you are on the grassy bank of belief in God or the rocky bank of unbelief, you are in a secure and certain place. Your feet are planted on the ground of belief or unbelief. There is no instability or sliding around. But to be in doubt is to be in the middle between the two banks on the slippery surface of uncertainty. When you are on the ice of doubt, you can slide either way.

Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.
James 1:12 MSG

This is God ’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. “When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God ’s Decree. “I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”— God ’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.
Jeremiah 29:10‭-‬14 MSG

Straight talk about sexuality

Watch “”Bi-Sexual Metal Dude” Pastor Bob DAILY!” on YouTube

God’s perception, perspective & focus isn’t on physical things, but rather, is on matters of the soul.

God’s Word gives clear stands on many subjects. If you are struggling with questions about sexuality, your’s in particularly, go to God. Speak to Him and listen to Him. He always clarifies things for us and don’t force your personal convictions on others.

God will let you know personally what He wants from you in your personal relationship with Him.

The Future

Some times I really think about what some call “The Rapture” (gathering of the saints or believers, when those in Christ are taken away from earth – 1st Thess. 4:16-17), the end times, The 2nd Coming of Christ, and things that are yet to come.

The Bible gives a lot of information and prophecies but; just as the 1st coming of Jesus Christ was misunderstood by so many when it happened, I think that His 2nd coming and other things that are going to happen before, during and after may be misunderstood.

It wasn’t until I was in seminary that I realized the rapture (gathering of the believers or saints) was separate from the 2nd coming. Then, and now, I am not even sure if it will be separate.

We can read for ourselves and listen to theories, theology and plenty of teaching on all this but until it happens we won’t clearly know.

That is okay and definitely acceptable. Somethings we just aren’t supposed to know, that is where faith comes in.

One thing is for sure, that we love & trust Christ to truly be our Lord, be His bride & be ready for that wedding day between us and Him whether we are alive physically or not when it all happens.

Waiting For The Aliens (by Barnabas)

In 1983 there was a Christian Metal Band who really grabbed my attention.

This song is one look at the end times. The Bible gives us plenty of information but until it happens we won’t know all the details;

one thing that is for sure

Although we don’t know when we can be sure it will take place.

At the bottom I’ll put a link to another post I’ve done on Bible verses to know before we are “LEFT BEHIND” & a video of DcTalk doing Larry Norman’s song “I Wish We’d ALL Been Ready”

For now, here is the Christian classic rock/Metal band Barnabas (lyrics under video):

Seen it on my tv for the past couple nights
Freaky, but it seems to be true
Captured earthlings vanish in a flicker of light
And there’s nothing that the air force can do

The guys at work all say that its a message from space
An omen of the good things to come
An interstellar rescue for whats left of the race
Now that the troublemakers are gone

Its gonna be alright
They say its gonna be alright
That born-again buffoonery has been dealt with at last
And now we’re one big happy family again

Sightings are abounding, so we know that they’re here
To help us chart a new destiny
They’ve done away with Jesus and that hellfire fear
So we can get loose and be free
They’re burning all the bibles ’cause it’s cheap energy

They’re turning all the churches to bars
No more silly fables or religious debris
We know our masters come from the stars

Seen it on my tv for the last couple weeks
Freaky, but it seems to be true
Everything sounds rosy when the new order speaks
Informing us of what we must do
So we’re waiting for the aliens with our hearts open wide
Clinging to their every command
They say they’re coming soon, so we should trust the new guy
Who wants to put that mark on our hand
