God’s Wireless Plan

We are not puppets on a string.

We are created beings with free will.

As I looked at some reading plans or devotional books that would help my teenage daughters grow I came across this one:

Indescribable: A 7-Day Journey About God And Science • Devotional

Here is a sample with a few notes I make in italics.

No one hears you scream in space.

There’s no atmosphere in space, sound waves have nothing to travel on.

So astronauts have to talk to each other using a different kind of wave: radio waves, which don’t need atmosphere to carry them.

God doesn’t need sound waves or even radio waves to hear us.

Prayers carry our voices to God.

God who created the entire universe is ready to listen to whatever we have to say.

On average, we spend almost eight hours a day staring at some sort of screen, like a TV, computer, or phone—that’s almost sixty hours every week!

In the middle of all of these fun, cool, and exciting things, God calls us to “be still” (Psalm 46:10) and think, talk, and listen to (pray) to Him.

Praying is when we praise God for who He is, thank Him for all He’s given us, and ask Him for what we need.

Since I was a teen I’ve enjoyed finding a special place where I can be alone with God. In a treehouse, in my bedroom, on a hike in the woods, or even in a bubble bath, anyplace to be still, talk to God, and listen for Him to answer. Remember, God usually speaks with a still, small voice—so we need to be sure to listen closely.

Also remember that He knows best and sometimes His answer is simply no.

Be Amazed!

Praying is so important that Jesus—God’s own Son—took time to pray. Check out some of the ways Jesus prayed in Luke 5:16; 6:12; and Matthew 14:23.

God, thank You for wanting to spend time with me. Thank You for always listening to me and answering my prayers in the way that you know is best.

On Now Time

While reading play “Right Now – Constantine Maroulis and the Band Geeks (Quarantine Edition)”

There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth: A right time for birth and another for death, A right time to plant and another to reap, A right time to kill and another to heal, A right time to destroy and another to construct, A right time to cry and another to laugh, A right time to lament and another to cheer, A right time to make love and another to abstain, A right time to embrace and another to part, A right time to search and another to count your losses, A right time to hold on and another to let go, A right time to rip out and another to mend, A right time to shut up and another to speak up, A right time to love and another to hate, A right time to wage war and another to make peace.

But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does?

I’ve had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly.

True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life.

That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift.

I’ve also concluded that whatever God does, that’s the way it’s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction.

God’s done it and that’s it.

That’s so we’ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.

Whatever was, is. Whatever will be, is. That’s how it always is with God.

Say It With Song “Depending on you” by Gene Moore

Gene Moore – Tunnel Vision: A Devotional Series • Devotional

Day 2: Depending On You by Gene Moore

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)

Gene writes,

Sometimes I wish God would give me a map for my future. I wish I could see every twist and turn coming my way, every bump in the road, every full stop. Wouldn’t it be amazing to know what lies ahead?

There’s a reason God doesn’t give us the full map.

  • One, I think it would scare us to death if we knew all the challenges, risks and dreams ahead of us.
  • Two, if we knew everything about our future, we wouldn’t have any reason to depend on a God who holds the future.

So instead, God, in His infinite mercy, chooses to illuminate one step at a time.

Boy, those steps can feel really heavy at times, can’t they?

Sometimes I take one step forward in what I think is the right direction, only to feel like I’ve taken two steps back.

That’s why it’s important to remember God’s faithfulness in the past.

Consider: How have you seen God work in your life previously? Where has He shown up? How has He provided?

(What Gene suggests here I also do, Journal)

When God shows up, write it down! Keep a record of God’s faithfulness so that when it feels like He isn’t working—when you feel like He’s silent—you can remind yourself of all the ways He’s already proven Himself faithful.

Gene writes,

I wrote a song called “Depending On You” to remind myself of this very fact.

I’m reminded to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus every time I sing,

I will keep my mind on what You are able to do… In the darkness I will declare nothing’s too hard for You.”

Maybe you’re standing at a crossroads today. Maybe you’re waiting on a word from the Lord. Maybe you’re praying for a breakthrough.

Whatever the situation, remember God’s faithfulness.

If He’s been faithful in the past, He’ll be faithful in the future.

We serve a God who is always working behind the scenes. We have to walk by faith, trusting that the same God who made the heavens and earth is working all things together for our good. (Romans 8:28)

It’s my prayer too that

We all Look up. Lift our eyes to God. Seek Him in prayer, and ask Him to reveal our next step. I promise you, He will.

Song, “Depending on you” by Gene Moore

While Supplies Last?

Part of my story https://bible.com/stories/545

I’m taking my mind off things that seem to be pulling my spirit in different directions and wearing me out.

Instead, I am putting my focus on God’s strength and abilities to handle everything I am not capable of getting through on my own.
God knows. He understands.

God is not a crutch. He is a stretcher.

He created us with the ability to learn that we are only capable of handling so much at one time.

We were not made to do things without Him.

The best thing is,

“There’s no time or weight limit. There is no, while supplies last.”

He promises.

We’ll never hear God say, “You’ve reached your quota for the day.”

He doesn’t run out of mercy. He doesn’t have a limit to the grace He gives.

His strength is limitless. No amount of trouble is too hard for Him. There is no restrictions to His forgiveness.

Today is the day for Salvation. We are not promised tomorrow; but, we are promised eternity.

He finds great pleasure in helping and caring for our every day needs while we are still on this earth.

Here is the only key,
Before HE can do that here and now, let alone for all eternity, we must first cast our lives into His hands, then rely, trust, and rest in knowing He’s got everything under control.

Bless the Lord! The God of our salvation supports us day after day! Selah
Psalms 68:19 CEB

Jesus says, “ Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 CEB

Jesus says,

“I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world. ”
John 16:33 CEB

A prayer:

  • Throw all your anxiety onto him, because he cares about you.
  • Be clearheaded.
  • Keep alert.

Your accuser, the devil, is on the prowl like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (Don’t be lion food)

  • Resist him,
  • standing firm in the faith.
  • Do so in the knowledge that your fellow believers are enduring the same suffering throughout the world.
  • After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, the one who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself restore, empower, strengthen, and establish you.

To him be power forever and always. Amen.
1 Peter 5:7‭-‬11 CEB

The inspiration for me to write this today is from day 1 of the @YouVersion plan ‘Grace & Gratitude: Live Fully In His Grace’. Check it out here:

I’ve written a lot about how Church (a gathering of like minded people) can do more harm than good depending on the people there or even some of the people there.

I’ve wrote these things so that I could personally process it.

Here are a few articles that I go back to. They help me in my relationship with Christ and in my relationships with other people.

Another plan I just finished is day 1 of: the @YouVersion plan ‘Does God Care About Discrimination’. Check it out here:

In that devotional I was reminded,

We don’t have to try hard to find out what the scriptures say about God’s heart for those who are discriminated against.

This is what attracts me most to the God of the Bible.

One of the emotions experienced by those who have gone through any sort of abuse or discrimination is that they feel an intense lack of self-worth.

This often cripples them from moving on ahead with life.

Deep depression sets in when people face rejection because of factors they are unable to identify or deal with.

Being discriminated against is a deadly disease in most world societies and it has left countless people feeling unloved and uncared for.
As God’s people we need to be careful to not tread on the wounds of those who have been stripped of their God-given dignity but be open to caring and nursing their wounds and show them their true worth.

It is heart-warming to read through scriptures and see how God cared for the lowly, the insignificant and the nobodies.

In fact everything that Jesus did, while on earth, highlighted God’s compassion and love for those abused and taken advantage of.

He was enraged at the sight of the merchants who made the temple a place where the poor and alien were being exploited.

Jesus literally and figuratively overturned the tables of those who tried to strip people of their God-given dignity.

He used every opportunity to restore people to their rightful status with God, as those with intrinsic value and worth.

May His Word cleanse us every day to remove those big planks of discriminatory and prejudicial attitudes we carry around in our hearts.

May God enable us to BE the healing balm in a world that is constantly trying to justify and dignify discriminatory practices and beliefs.

It’s All On God’s Shoulders

Full credit to God.

Today (5/24/20) I went to my daughter Kyri’s Church (Discover Church Orlando). Online Don Cousins is sharing several messages about our Spiritual health. Today was,

Heart Health part 2

Psalm 139:1-4 God knows us, in every way! 🎶 Every move we make 🎶

God luvs us warts and all

Prov. 4:23 tells us to guard our hearts, above all else !

At the close of today’s message He shared some very good reminders.Don went to God’s word, opened it, and highlighted a few things on how,

Salvation is all On God’s shoulders. Our part is small, just accepting that gift.

Take a look at, EZ.36:24-28. I’m posting The Message Translation so the wording may be a little different. God says, “‘For here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to take you out of these countries, gather you from all over, and bring you back to your own land. I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!
Ezekiel 36:24‭-‬28 MSGI’m not sure what translation Don used but he pointed out all that God promises and does and then what we will be

God says, “I will…” a lot Look at what God wills

I will:

  • Take you

  • Gather you

  • Bring you

  • Sprinkle you

  • Cleanse you

  • Give you

  • Put in you

  • Remove from you

  • Give you (again)

  • Put in you (again)

  • Move you

  • I will BE your God

Only a very few times does it say, “You will” look at your will

You will:

  • Be clean

  • Live in the land

  • Be my people

Time for a song before I end this post:

“All This For A Piece Of Fruit” song by Dogs of Peace

We got applesauce on our birthday suit but, we can be cleaned.

God will do it all. He does everything you and I can’t do. God is THE only one who can change our nature, clean us, and make us right with Him.

We just have to offer our hearts to Him.
God is THE only one who can change our nature, clean us, and make us right with Him. We just have to offer our hearts to Him.

Our part is to

Present our heart to Him.

Submit. Release. Surrender. Let go.

God allows our own freewill to decide if we want or don’t want to be part of all HE is and if we want HIM to be or not to be, not just part but, the whole of who we are down to our gut, our core, our very soul.

Apply Romans 10:9-10,

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Romans 10:9‭-‬10 NLTAlthough our part is small sometimes it is not easy to let our nature be under His care, love, and command.Handing our will over to God’s will can be a challenge but, when we do the outcome is not only eternal life, it is a life of beauty and peace while still alive and well here and now.
God doesn’t force us. He lets us make the choice.

It is a daily choice as we live out our lives.
