Regurgitating, Retreating and Retweeting.

“Put that in your blog & stroke it.” -Ed Bailey

As my dad shared what really matters & never changes, God’s reliable Words, he concluded with that quote. It was an 80 year old man’s version of a mic. drop.

Here are some thoughts that helped me RESET a few things this morning. (Notes from – day 1 of the @YouVersion plan ‘The Reset’. Check it out here:

Ya know, when you die in a video game you’re playing it’s no big deal, ya just get another life or reset the whole game.

Real life is different, we don’t always get a second chance at a first impression or 1 time opportunities, let alone to live life as we know it here & now.

Yet,

In God’s pure plan when all is said & done we’ve only just begun.

I can hear people shouting #YOLO now (you only live once). It’s a moto some live by, perhaps too often while partaking in dangerous behavior and activities that risk life, limb, health and/or sobriety. Consider what most mean by that (YOLO) and what people mean by a “bucket list”.

With each moment, each step

It’s time to reset and to place our focus back on who and what really matters.

Just as if i am going to some special resort or camp for a retreat, i’m considering these next few moments as an opportunity to refresh my soul through the living Word of God, asking Him to recharge our Spirit.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop & look around every once in a while ya may miss it. -Faris Bulour

Everyone desires to be in control. We all want to dictate, predict and map out every little detail, event & happening but the reality is that, although we can basically keep some type of schedule, ultimately we do not have as much of a say in life as we think we do.

Speaking to people waiting in an emergency room or experiencing the sudden, unexpected health change of a loved one will reinforce that fact.

However, one thing remains in the midst of all the demands, pressures and sudden impacts that life brings and that’s God, our source.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. -Hebrews 13:8 GNT

It’s a life with Him in us and us in Him that allows us to not only strive but survive & thrive.

As believers

He is the source of our strength, the key to our peace and the reason we live.

Retreats, seminars, Sunday gatherings, special weekends are great but for me the key is to get connected & stay connected to the source so, as we face the battle we need not retreat. WE CAN REMAIN STANDING.

AGAIN,

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Keep on

  • Asking God for the grace to pursue Him in prayer and in His Word.
  • Ask God to make you more aware of His presence and leading throughout your day.

Look straight ahead with honest confidence; don’t hang your head in shame. Proverbs 4:25 GNT

https://bible.com/bible/68/pro.4.25.GNT

God says,

“But I will bless the person who puts his trust in me. He is like a tree growing near a stream and sending out roots to the water. It is not afraid when hot weather comes, because its leaves stay green; it has no worries when there is no rain; it keeps on bearing fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7‭-‬8 GNT

Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what HE requires of you, and HE will provide you with all these other things.
Matthew 6:33 GNT

May we all let God pull the weeds out of our life so that, like weeds, worries about this life, the love for riches, and all other kinds of desires won’t crowd in and choke out the message, and keep us from bearing fruit.
