Tiktoc? YouTube, facbook, Instagram.
Time to wake up & smell the future.
There are so many social media
- soap boxes,
- avenues and
means of conveying
- What you enjoy
- What you believe
- Why you believe in it &
- Instructions on how to do things yourself (applications)
In our life time we’ve never had as many opportunities & ways of sharing how you feel, what you believe, and why you believe in whatever it is you love so much, until now.
People are showing up right into the palm of our young people’s hands.
Let us consider just for a moment what is in our hands, our children’s hands in this day & age.
Through cell phones & personal computers we are bombarded with ads, promos, philosophy, entertainment and more.
To reach young people in 2019 we have to transmit the good news in their language, in their personal space, through the windows they look through the most.
Let’s no bother to focus on how ungodly the internet & social media channels are. I challenge you to look for & fix your eyes on the ways God uses even the internet. Seek to find creators & internet users who publish & produce a spotlight on Christ.
William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army, said,
Why should the devil have all the good music?
He was one of the first leaders who encouraged Christians to use any means of music possible to share the gospel He was open to all styles, tunes & instrumentation available at the time.
Even in the late 1800’s this man used some of the first phonograph recording devices to preserve & spread the gospel. They didn’t have podcasts but vynal records (wax) was becoming very popular and well used; also rather than just using a church organ; brass horns, guitars, drums and woodwind instruments were put into action.
Many times he’d take groups outside & play where people were passing by or gathering, places with a captivating audience.
He set up in all kinds of public places, even outside “The Blind Beggar”, a bar in England.
He took the gospel to where people were.
The phrase Doing the Most Good® ,that you may see plastered on all things related to this Army of Salvation, originated from a quote by The Salvation Army’s co-founder, Catherine Booth. I want people to hear the whole quote,
“There is no reward equal to that of doing the most good to the most people in the most need.”
With that in mind and in reference to the earlier quote,
Why should the devil have all the good music?
The answer is, ” He doesn’t anymore.”
For me the mode of transportation God used to reach me was music. That is only one means of transmission God still uses today but let us not underestimate how BIG GOD IS and realize He can & will use the world wide web, youtube creators & influencers, facebook, tiktoc, twitter and any other type of social media possible. The internet goes right into the hands of people all over the world, right into their cars, work places, schools, public domains (coffee shops) and homes.
I believe He is even using my blog👈 and thing in my life (https://tombeetlebailey.wordpress.com/2015/10/07/mode-of-transportation/) as an instrument to reach others.
Why should the devil have all the good internet?
The answer is,
With a desire to reach my own children I search for the people God can use, ones their age or who can reach them even better than I can, people who drive down the same avenues they are on. There are people who are in the very same lane they are in. Those individuals hit all the same channels they visit. At the bottom is one I found most recently.
A few years ago I wrote a blog post on Social Media Soldiers 👈(https://tombeetlebailey.wordpress.com/2016/02/15/cyberspace-cadetsocial-media-soldier/). That post hits the same noted that are being played here.
It’s through the most modern means we can reach the most modern age. We can shine & share the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ to the most people in the most need by going through the doorways & windows, walls, highways & byways that so easily captivate our young people’s eyes, minds & hearts.
We can help pull them up & out of the maze of confusion, help set them on solid ground so that they too can stand with & for Christ and knowing The Way, The Truth, The Life (Christ) will recognize the lies out there trying to trip them up.
May God bless you and whatever you do.
May you and I bless God.
I pray that all we do may ultimately be for Christ’s sake.
In Him, beetle
“I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer. He cuts off every branch of me that doesn’t bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. You are already pruned back by the message I have spoken.” John 15:1-3 MSG
As great as a good youth leader, youth group or summer camp program is there is no more frequently visited practice and place than social media: memes, channels, tiktoc and vines. Jesus is still “The Vine” and we are still his branches. It is my hope & prayer that you & your children or children you know will, amongst all the other ‘shhhtuff’, crap and dowm right muck, find The Lord, Jesus Christ even in the world wide web.
With the way this generation uses their phones & computers they could possibly can get The bread of life fed to them almost 24/7, not just force fed on a Sunday morning, Wednesday night or yearly youth conference/seminar.
If we encourage these youtube (and otherwise) creators/influencers whose desire it is to share the gospel & if we raise awareness to young people about these channels, and such, this generation can feast on all that Christ truly is.
Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. Hebrews 4:14-16 MSG
Here is an example of a health witness to this generation-
