Continued from: Chain Links & Choices
Now, lets think back to the links & that chain & put a positive spin to this object lesson regarding our choices being like links that form a chain.
If we practice what Christ taught those links (positive choices) will form chains of His Grace.
When we link our lives with Him & become a bondslave of The Lord Jesus Christ our will & desires & even our very nature is changed BY HIM & OUR WILLINGNESS TO LET HIM.
The Apostle Paul put it well. He was literally, not metephorically, literally he was in physical chains for practicing his beliefs in Christ & telling others about Jesus.
He wrote this to others & for us to read,
“And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ.
And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and boldly speak God’s message without fear.
It’s true that some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives. They preach because they love me, for they know I have been appointed to defend the Good News. Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about Christ. They preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely, intending to make my chains more painful to me.
But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice. For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance. Philippians 1:12-19 NLT
So, what I’ve learned & share while writing this article is this,
Chains are build link by link, choice by choice, decision by decision, little actions followed by more & more similar actions that are linked together.
If I am chained to negative things those negative things (people, places, thoughts followed up with my actions) those “things” will end up controling me.
I can become crippled & tied up, chained to things that will only lead to a dead end or harmful habit and my identity.
On the other hand-
If I am chained to positive things the positive will have control of me.
Mt. 6:21 – Jesus says, where treasure is there your heart will be. So, I consider, where is my attention? Where is my focus? Where do my desires reside? What do I really love & treasure?
I choose Jesus to be my Lord. He takes the old chains off & He takes control as I surrender my will to Him. I am linked to Him & His life to mine and when we do that nothing can seperate us from Him.(Ro. 8)
