I’ve written two other post regarding this subject. In this post I am looking at another phrase in the prayer Jesus taught, “Your Kingdom Come.”, as recorded in Matt. 6, where Jesus also included…
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Matthew 6:10, 21-21, 24, 27-27, 31-34 NLT
Christ told us, if we believe in Him & live under His Lordship we belong to the Kingdom of God. We are citizens of His Kingdom, not some entity man has set up, not some special club of believers or cult of man made religion.
We are His children, who worship and follow Him, live by His Word, not just some man or citizen of earth but Christ alone, whose citizenship is in Heaven (Our Father, which is in Heaven).
Philippians 3:20 – For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Philippians 3:18-21 NLT
When The Lord Jesus Christ answered Pilate, He said that his Kingdom is not of this world.
John 18:36 – Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”
John 18:36 NLT
This Kingdom is unique, eternal, and so unshakable by any events in history.
Hebrews 12:28 – Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe;
HEBREWS 12:28 AMP
Another uniqueness of His Kingdom is there is one and only one King who reigns eternally.
Hebrews 13:8-9 –Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.
Hebrews 13:8-9 NLT
God gives us Revelation where John was told to, “Write this down.”, and God’s Word has lasted even unto this day and age for us to have and hold…And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.” Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus. ” Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God. The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all Lords. Revelation 19:9-16 NLT
For now we pray may your Kingdom Come and we activly live as citizens under His reign.
Look at the last few words written in God’s Word for us…
He who testifies and affirms these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus (the Christ, the Messiah) be with all [the saints–all believers, those set apart for God]. Amen.
