“But I say to you who hear [Me and pay attention to My words]: Love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies, [make it a practice to] do good to those who hate you, bless and show kindness to those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
LUKE 6:27-28 AMP
God’s love is bigger than the enemy, it is the opposite of hate.
In this world we’ve become accustomed to conditional love. God’s love is unconditional.
“For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more certain, having been reconciled, that we will be saved [from the consequences of sin] by His life [that is, we will be saved because Christ lives today].” ROMANS 5:10 AMP
God is unlike us & all we think we know.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord . “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV
He loves us when we are otherwise unlovable and wants us to share this experience His love even with this world which hates us.
In every opposition may we see the opportunity to keep loving God and others.
If God loved us while we were still enemies (in opposition to Him) then how much more will we find ourselves overflowing with His love to those who still oppose us!
In Christ, Beetle
