Hey Jude, Thank you dude!

I, Jude, am a slave to Jesus Christ and brother to James, writing to those loved by God the Father, called and kept safe by Jesus Christ.

Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way!

Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common.

I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish.

What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious skin are shameless scoundrels.

Their design is to replace the sheer grace of our God with sheer license—which means doing away with Jesus Christ, our one and only Master.

I’m laying this out as clearly as I can, even though you once knew all this well enough and shouldn’t need reminding.

 Here it is in brief:

The Master saved a people out of the land of Egypt. Later he destroyed those who defected. And you know the story of the angels who didn’t stick to their post, abandoning it for other, darker missions. But they are now chained and jailed in a black hole until the great Judgment Day. Sodom and Gomorrah, which went to sexual rack and ruin along with the surrounding cities that acted just like them, are another example. Burning and burning and never burning up, they serve still as a stock warning.

This is exactly the same program of these latest infiltrators: dirty sex, rule and rulers thrown out, glory dragged in the mud.

The Archangel Michael, who went to the mat with the Devil as they fought over the body of Moses, wouldn’t have dared level him with a blasphemous curse, but said simply, “No you don’t. God will take care of you!” But these people sneer at anything they can’t understand, and by doing whatever they feel like doing—living by animal instinct only—they participate in their own destruction. I’m fed up with them!

  • They’ve gone down Cain’s road; they’ve been sucked into Balaam’s error by greed; they’re canceled out in Korah’s rebellion. These people are warts on your love feasts as you worship and eat together.
  • They’re giving you a black eye—carousing shamelessly, grabbing anything that isn’t nailed down.
  • They’re— Puffs of smoke pushed by gusts of wind; late autumn trees stripped clean of leaf and fruit, Doubly dead, pulled up by the roots; wild ocean waves leaving nothing on the beach but the foam of their shame; Lost stars in outer space on their way to the black hole. Enoch, the seventh after Adam, prophesied of them: “Look! The Master comes with thousands of holy angels to bring judgment against them all, convicting each person of every defiling act of shameless sacrilege, of every dirty word they have spewed of their pious filth.”
  •  These are the “grumpers,” the bellyachers, grabbing for the biggest piece of the pie, talking big, saying anything they think will get them ahead.

But remember, dear friends, that the apostles of our Master, Jesus Christ, told us this would happen:

“In the last days there will be people who don’t take these things seriously anymore.

  •  They’ll treat them like a joke, and make a religion of their own whims and lusts.
  • These are the ones who split churches, thinking only of themselves.
  • There’s nothing to them, no sign of the Spirit!

BUT YOU, DEAR FRIENDS,

  • carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit,
  • staying right at the center of God’s love,
  • keeping your arms open and outstretched,
  • ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!
  • Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith.
  • Go after those who take the wrong way.
  •  Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven.

And now to Him who can keep you on your feet, standing tall in His bright presence, fresh and celebrating—to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be glory, majesty, strength, and rule before all time, and now, and to the end of all time. Yes. Jude 1:1‭-‬25 MSG

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Possessions That Possess

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

Sometimes, if we don’t use our common sense,

What we own could end up owning us.

-Tyler Durden

Possessions can posses us to the point that we are just polishing the brass on a ship that is currently sinking. We are buffing a car that is going to be mangled in an irreversible crusher.

I’m all for taking care, being good stewarts of what we own, however there is a fine balance between focusing on material “things” paid for by cash that are temporal and gifts given that are eternal.

A few verses come to my mind:

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’  These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:31‭-‬33 NLT

And

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:6‭-‬9 NLT

What God plans & has for us has nothing to do with anything we can actually see with our eyes or touch with our hands.

Today He has brought me to the point of realizing He bought me with a high price, the life of His own son who paid a great debit to give me so much more than what is around me right now.

People love to say,

Ya can’t take it with you.

But that is not entirely true, you can take somethings with you, those things are all spiritual treasures & people who share those same treasures.

The Bible is very clear about heaven and who & what is welcome there. I will take with me praise & admiration for Christ to heaven with me & be joined by everyone who acknowledges Him.

How wonderful it will be someday to be in His actual presences. In the mean time may His presence be in me and seen by those who see me.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 1 John 4:16‭-‬17 ESV

This old house (my body) will decay & be destroyed but His temple (my body) is renewed day by day until eventually I will live in a new home with a new name written in Glory.
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.           2 Corinthians 4:16‭-‬18 NLT

As I live & breathe

I started today with this verse:

Yours, O Lord , is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord , and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.
1 Chronicles 29:11 NLT

http://bible.com/116/1ch.29.11.NLT

As I read this “verse of the day” my mind went to the ending of The Lord’s prayer. ..

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’ (

Matthew 6:13 NASB). Some manuscripts added that where some just stop at, “deliver us from evil.”

I’m sure people could get into a deep theological debate or argument about why that ending was left out or added but I’d rather focus on praying without ceasing,  why stop at, “Amen.”

I wrote a post a while back about how “Amen” is not “The end”.

With every breath may the Lord hear our hearts.

Know that He is your loving Father and He wants to reside, live in, ‘dwell’ in us. Making our bodies His temple.

Don’t worry about how dirty you are inside, He’ll clean us up from the inside.

He is all powerful,  He is everything and as a good friend reminded me today, if He is in you, you will find full satisfaction, regardless of circumstances we face financially, physically, mentally, environmentally or other wise.

God bless you and you, bless God.

In Christ, Beetle

I took the above picture outside a local library (St. Augustine, FL southeast branch) there baby ducks were following the mother duck. I didn’t get the ducklings in this photo because they were hesitating a little bit on get into the water. May we not hesitate to follow our Father as close as possible.

Interesting fact someone shared with me once, ducks float naturally. There are only two times when their body’s just won’t work right in their environment,

  1. When they are afraid
  2. When they are upset/angry

What We See Without Eyes

You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.

Like flying a kite way up beyond the clouds, like knowing there is a fish on your line, you feel the tug?

I feel God’s tug on my heart.

Even though I have not seen The Lord Jesus Christ in flesh & blood I believe because He sends His Holy Spirit down to us.

Today I soak Him in, ask for His grace, mercy & love so others, although they don’t see Him will still yet believe.

The Judge Paid The Fine

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges ; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5‭-‬8 NLT

http://bible.com/116/php.2.5-8.NLT

In the story, “The Chief Physician” I wrote about a young lady who owed money and had to appear before a judge.  Here is an excerpt from that story:

The judge came in and removed his sports coat to put on his judges robe and stepped up on to this high aloft podium as he read out what Judy’s conviction was. His voice seemed to be like a loud boom that shook her whole body. Although she had already read the ticket and knew why she was there it was as if the judge had to bring back the nightmare and state it out loud, using her full name, JUDITH ANN MASTERS, much to her embarrassment. The only time she heard her full name was when she was scold as a child. This was a public announcement to everyone how bad of a person she was. Because of the nature of this crime (read the story to hear her crime) the judge informed her that she was to pay the fine of $200 or spend 30 days in jail. Judy gasped. She thought jail was an awful extreme punishment for such a crime. As bad as Judy thought things were going to be this proved to be even worse than what she had ever imagined. The judge continued to speak but Judy was lost in her own thoughts and questions of why other people who commit bigger crimes like murder or drug trafficking were not in her shoes right now. This is where they belong, not me, she thought. The judge raised his voice which snapped Judy out of her daydream and self-pity. She listened as the judge said, “Now young lady, you may not feel that what you did was wrong or that it justifies such a fine or time behind bars, however; you broke the law and I’m sure that as you grow older and more mature you will see that for every action there is a consequence.” Judy began to weep again and she said with a quivering voice, “But… your honor, I don’t have the money to pay and going to jail for that many days would cause me to lose my education and I’ll be dropped from my classes.” The judge said in reply to that, “ I’m sorry young lady but the law is the law and I am the judge and I cannot let your crime go by unpunished or your debt to go by unpaid.” Judy just stared down at the desk in front of her and cried and softly said, “I don’t know what to do can somebody help me?” Then she whispered, “God help me.” The judge stood to his feet almost in anger and his heavy footsteps came down off the podium. This confused Judy as he took off his judge’s robe and put back on his sports coat. Judy wasn’t sure how this worked. She thought that perhaps the judge was leaving for the day. She grew even more nervous as he began to approach her. The judge walked right over and stood next to her and reached in his coat pocket and pulled out $200 and laid it on the table in front of her. A few of her teardrops landed on the bills as she listens to the judge whispered in her ear, “Judy, please take this and use it wisely. You may use it for whatever cause you like. I’m laying it down and you may not even pick it up because I see you feel unworthy. You may feel that it doesn’t belong to you but I’m giving it to you and it’s yours I hope you will accept it.” Then the judge went back over to the coat rack, took off his sports coat and put his judge’s Robe back on. As soon as the judge sat down he said with a loud voice, “It appears someone paid your debt Judith. Would you like to use that gift toward your freedom from the fine and jail sentence?” Judy reached out and put her hands on top of the money. She saw the words, “In God We Trust”, printed on the bills and then she continued to cry said, “yes please, yes.”

I included that part of the story because I felt like that goes along with today’s Scripture so well, describing what Christ did for us.

He gave up his divine privileges ; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Easter Every Day

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
John 11:25‭-‬26 NLT

http://bible.com/116/jhn.11.25-26.NLT

I celebrate the reason for the seasons in life every day.

When you come to believe Jesus was born, died and rose again you begin to look expectant for Him to come again.

Our Father, in heaven, holy is Your name. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven.

With great expectations in Christ,  Beetle

Death Destroyer (Secomd Death? A post on Easter, Christ & Heaven)

The Sovereign LORD will destroy death for ever! He will wipe away the tears from everyone’s eyes and take away the disgrace his people have suffered throughout the world. The LORD himself has spoken!Isaiah 25:8 GNB

http://bible.com/296/isa.25.8.GNB

We all celebrate Easter for different reasons and in different ways. In general terms I’m honestly not sure if there is as much emphasis put on Christ’s rebirth after death as there is on His birth.

This man Jesus died once but didn’t face a second death.

Second death? What? You may ask.

Yeah, The Bible tells us we die physically then face the afterlife and if we haven’t accepted Christ’s sacrifice for our sins we face death again, but I don’t want to get to far ahead of what I want to say in this post.

Commercially, Christmas is BIG and time is given off officially for families to gather together and celebrate but the “Easter season” seems to come and go without much notice, other than a basket full of candy & colorful hardboiled eggs being left behind by a mythical rabbit.

It’s weird really if you think about how it is celebrated commercially.

That is why I feel that our focus should shift from commercial thinking to Christ like thinking.

The Orthodox Jews celebrate Passover  (when death passed over them while held captive in Egypt). Jesus, being Jewish, celebrated this with His closest friends too but brought about and even deeper meaning.

He was the lamb that was to be slain and His blood was to cover the doorway of our lives so that death would also pass over us.

As I pondered this I began to think about heaven and Jesus’ words before he died (John 14) and His words to John in Revelation (Rev. 21).

I personally believe Christ rose from the dead, went to heaven & is still coming back.

He doesn’t need a “commercial”, however, there is need for an infomercial reminding, or for some perhaps informing, us of what kind of power, ability & intentions our Creator  has for us.

With the help of Chip Ingram and Living on the edge ministries I did a post on 👉A Scripture Picture of Heaven👈

Part of that included this:

An Accurate View of Heaven Provides…
• _perspective __in times of trouble 2 Corinthians 4 : 16-18

• __peserverance_in times of temptation John 14

• _priorities __ when under pressure Matthew 6

As we go through Easter this year may we recognize exactly how significant Christ’s death and resurrection is.

He is the ONLY ONE who rose Himself from the dead. God used prophets of the past, & even His apostles after Christ rose, to raise others from the dead but Jesus Christ was The Only One to rise from the dead as a way to destroy death.

Ultimately Jesus is coming back again to get a final, once & forever victory over death giving us a time & place where no one even dies a first time, let alone encounters a second death.

This all may sound confusing and that is where faith comes in, although we do not see yet we still accept & believe.

I grew up in the church,  in a Christian home & participating in church classes & activities but it wasn’t until I was older & looking into The Bible on my own that I read about “a second death” and a “new heaven” and a “new earth”.

If for any reason this post spurs you on I encourage you to start to dig into God’s Word and little more and search out what He tells us first hand about death, a second  death, earth now, a new earth, heaven now, a new heaven and more.

Don’t take someone else’s view, look at what God’s Word (The Bible)  says.

I’ll conclude with part of Revelation 21 telling us of things yet to come:

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End.

To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

Revelation 21:1‭-‬7 NLT

http://bible.com/116/rev.21.1-7.NLT

May you allow God to be God and not try to fully understand everything but simply believe He provides our way to Salvation, not we ourselves or any other human being.

May you fall in love with Him and let  Christ truly be Lord of your life too.

In Christ, Beetle

When You’ve lost A Loved One

I now know what it is like when a loved one dies.

Nothing can be said.

For anyone reading this who has recently had a loved one die just hold on.

The grief will come in waves and when you do find what little peace that comes your way you’ll feel guilty,  like it’s not okay to even be okay.

This is normal.

You are normal.

When you feel overwhelmed, as I do often since my 22 year old son died, just tell yourself,

The only thing you need to do is breathe.

Take everything literally one breath at a time.

I have no more words other than,

“This life is temporary and it is not very long so just breathe and hold on to all those still alive and let them hold you.”

The sorrow is real. Take time to mourn. Don’t listen to, watch or read things that make it worse at times, but give yourself permission to work with (maybe not even through) the pain for now.
