Praying The Lord’s Prayer

As I struggled through the night with pain or racing thoughts & unrest from wrestling with whatever natural chemical is causing imbalance inside my body I go over the prayer Jesus taught His followers…

This, then, is how you should pray:

‘Our Father in heaven: May your holy name be honoured; may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need. Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us. Do not bring us to hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.’ Matthew 6:9‭-‬13 GNB

“The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant.

They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God.

Don’t fall for that nonsense.

This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need

With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply

Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Set the world right; Do what’s best— as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes. Matthew 6:7‭-‬13 MSG

Pray, therefore, like this:

Our Father (stop and think about that)

Who is in heaven, (unlike earthy fathers)

hallowed (kept holy) be Your name. (Worship His name)

Your kingdom come, (sincerely ask)

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Asking & accepting)

Give us this day our daily bread. (Spiritually & physically)

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors. (Jesus goes into detail of this later. How important it is to forgive others if we want to be forgiven and He will forgive as we do. In the way we judge we will be judged)

And lead (bring) us not into temptation, (look for ways He provides for us to escape temptation that lead to sin)

but

deliver us from the evil one. (Accepting His Salvation)

For Yours is the kingdom

 and the power

and the glory forever. Amen.

Jesus not only teaches how to pray but He prays for us as He did for His followers  (see John 17)

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will. [Ps. 139:1, 2.] We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
