This is a long video but it says a lot, not just in the number of words but in what is said.
Watch “Keith Green-Devotion or Devotions? (FULL)” on YouTube
Keith Green maybe known more for his music but he was so much more that just a singer, songwriter and musician.
“Why this frenzy of sacrifices?” God’s asking. “Don’t you think I’ve had my fill of burnt sacrifices, rams and plump grain-fed calves? Don’t you think I’ve had my fill of blood from bulls, lambs, and goats? When you come before me, whoever gave you the idea of acting like this, Running here and there, doing this and that— all this sheer commotion in the place provided for worship?
Isaiah 1:11-12 MSG
I recall personally thinking how it would be better for a Christian to be devoted to God 6 days a week and do absolutely nothing on the 7th day than to worship 1 day a week and not be like Christ the rest of the week.
ULTIMATELY we should be “In Christ” and let Him dwell (live) “in us” 24/7.
If you’re interested in learning about this lifestyle and relationship with Christ or wonder how it is even possible go to👉 Romans 12 Christian:
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Romans 12:1-2 MSG
I find that as I live with The Holy Spirit in me (the very same Spirit who lived in Jesus Christ and rose Him from the dead) I begin to see Him in everything. Things that aren’t even “Christian” in nature (not necessarily produced by & for Christ) I am able to still get something from God.
Remember God’s word doesn’t say go witness. It commands us to be a witness. Go and make disciples.
Life can be hard, confusing and effected so greatly by others but if our relationship with Jesus is tight we will survive and also thrive.
You become like those you hang out with.
Psalm 40:6 Doing something for you, bringing something to you— that’s not what you’re after. Being religious, acting pious— that’s not what you’re asking for. You’ve opened my ears so I can listen. Psalm 40:6 MSG
Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims. 1 Corinthians 6:12 MSG
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 NASB
Here is one of my personal favorites of Keith Green that is pure Scripture put into song:
Here is one more very good message from Keith. It explains from a Biblical stand point and a personal point of veiw how God works & how God calls people & uses people for His sake.
Keith had to learn the hard way, grow and mature spiritually as we all do, and learn from mistakes. Here is part his story:
“The man behind the message”
I pray that the reader, the hearer, will come to know Christ better…may we all continue to grow in Christ and encourage each other. May we find out for ourselves who Jesus really is (personally get into a love relationship with Him) rather than just being a casual Christian who is just a church goer not a doer of His Word. May I be Holy devoted to Christ not just do devotions but truly live with & for Jesus Christ my “LORD” and Savior until the day He promotes me to glory.
