So I never lose sight of your love, But keep in step with you, never missing a beat. Psalm 26:3 MSG
On the front few blank pages in my Bible and in the back I’ve written helpful notes and Scripture references regarding various subjects.
On one page I drew several little footprints and on each footprint a verse.
When I went to a Christian men’s camp (Keystone) I decided to use a very tall walking stick. That allowed everyone to poke at me and call me Moses (all in good fun) but it also helped me get around.
On the “staff” (walking stick) I wrote those verses that are in my Bible. They all have to do with our walk, steps we take & God directing us.
Here are the verses:
1st John 1:7
Ex. 4:1-7 Looking a little closer at Moses & his walking stick –
After God appeared to Moses through the burning bush telling him to take a stand & be a leader, a representative…
Exodus 4:1-5, 10-12 NIV Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.
The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.”
So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.
“This,” said the Lord , “is so that they may believe that the Lord , the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”
Moses “argued” with The Lord and the conversation went back and forth for a time. Finally,
Moses said to the Lord , “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord ? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (Exodus 4:1-5, 10-12 NIV)
The argument went on and on between Moses & God. God gave Moses every opportunity and promised to give the ability along with miracles & even Aaron as a spokesman. God choose Moses and wasn’t going to take no as an answer.
Moses needed the walking staff, the ability to do miracles, Aaron & the persuasion of God Himself directly through a bush that was burning without being consumed in order to take the steps God wanted him to take and yet Moses still beat around the burning bush!
Oh how God equipped Moses and oh how He gives us all we need to walk with Him and carry out what He wants us to do and be.
We may not be the one to lead, we may not be the one to perform miracles but nonetheless God wants to walk with us and just “be” who we are in Him no matter what we do or where we go.
Keep in step with Him, Beetle
