That title may sound backwards. We are so use to hearing, “Don’t just stand there Fight!” But flip it with me for a second thought…Just Stand There! Don’t Just Fight.
Although the we do need to fight the good fight it really Christ who fought & continues to fight for us, we just take a stand in faith.
This morning I broke down these verses…Ephesians 6:14-20 NIV
Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,
with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains.
Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Ephesians 6:14-20 NIV
Here is a perfect visual illustration of how we need to turn our backs on the evil dragon, keep our eyes fixed on Christ and trust Him in truth & righteousness. His gospel we can depend on. Always be ready to apply & use it & just stand steady while He fires the conquering blow.
In Christ, Beetle
I found these verses several weeks later and they fit so well I wanted to include them: Control yourselves and be careful! The devil, your enemy, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat. Refuse to give in to him, by standing strong in your faith. You know that your Christian family all over the world is having the same kinds of suffering. And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever. All power is his forever and ever. Amen. I wrote this short letter with the help of Silas, who I know is a faithful brother in Christ. I wrote to encourage you and to tell you that this is the true grace of God. Stand strong in that grace. 1 Peter 5:8-12 NCV
