Be Good & Angry (M.A.D.D.)

“How to Be Good and Mad”👈play Audio

Song, “Let’s Get Upset” by D&K Band comes to my mind (posted at end)

Think for moment, maybe we should be mad, upset, down right angry about certain things and yet, not sin & filled with the JOY OF THE LORD.

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead can & wants to live inside us.

Notes from:
Overcoming Emotions That Destroy How to Be Good and Mad
(Part 5) Chip Ingram and Living on the Edge
Ephesians 4:26-27 (i encourage you to open your own Bible &  look at all of Ephesians 4)

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NAS)
Be angry, and {yet} do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not
give the devil an opportunity.

Introduction: How to Be Good and Mad
• Anger is a channel to maximize your potential in Christ.
• God’s agenda for your life is for you to trust Him.
• What’s at stake – God gave you this gift of anger to transform your life to make you like Christ.

I. God commands us to express our anger.
Ephesians 4:26a (NIV)

II. God commands us to express our anger appropriately.
Ephesians 4:26b (NIV)

III. Righteous Indignation: How God Used Anger
• Jesus was visibly angry.
Mark 3
• Jesus was verbally angry. Matthew 23
• Jesus was physically angry.
Mark 11

Here is a thought:

If we are not angry about things that anger God, maybe we don’t know HIM as well as we think we do.

IV. God commands us to resolve our anger before bedtime. Ephesians 4:26c-27(NIV)

Anger Resolution = “Healing the Wound” so good things can happen.

👣Step #1 – Cleanse the Wound
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. (NIV)

Confession and repentance of unresolved anger!

If we don’t get the Wound cleaned it will get infected.

👣Step #2 – Treat the Wound
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in
Christ God forgave you.

Extend forgiveness and seek forgiveness!
(As far as it depends on you)!

👣Step #3 – Bandage the Wound
Ephesians 5:1-2
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children
and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Put the past behind you!

Put your behind in your pants!

Why do i read, study, dig, crush on Christ so hard & share?
Same as The Apostle Paul…
To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Ephesians 4:12‭-‬14 ESV
And Eph. 4:27…
To not give the devil an opportunity (a foot hold or any advantage)
