Stop Judging by mear appearances

“You be the Judge without being judgemental”

Does that sound confusing?

Maybe because we associate making sound judgment with being judgmental.

We should make wise decisions but we do not need to make a final judgment on anyone, that is God’s job.

Many people, true believers & other wise love to quote scriptures or may even quote it in correctly.

Let’s take a look at some of the main verses on judgment, not ‘end of the world’ judgment but what Jesus shares on how to treat people when it comes to judging.

First Matt. 7

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.  For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.Matthew 7:1-2 NIV

Notice, Jesus doesn’t say don’t judge, as a matter of fact he says you will judge but when you do know that you will be judged in the same way and with the same measure.
(We must read the whole verse).

Then in John 7 we read where Jesus says,

“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” John 7:24 NIV

(Look at Jn. 7:21-24 for more details).

Notice, Jesus doesn’t say stop judging, read the whole verse…Stop judging by appearances only.

He actually tells us to judge and judge correctly.

Also see in John 8 Jesus talks about how people judge things differently than God judges things

You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. John 8:15 NIV

‘The message translation’ will clarify the context of all Christ wants us to understand about how we see things Vs. How He sees things:

Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”

The Pharisees objected, “All we have is your word on this. We need more than this to go on.”

Jesus replied, “You’re right that you only have my word. But you can depend on it being true.

I know where I’ve come from and where I go next. You don’t know where I’m from or where I’m headed.

You decide according to what you can see and touch. I don’t make judgments like that. But even if I did, my judgment would be true because I wouldn’t make it out of the narrowness of my experience but in the largeness of the One who sent me, the Father.
That fulfills the conditions set down in God’s Law: that you can count on the testimony of two witnesses.

And that is what you have: You have my word and you have the word of the Father who sent me.”
John 8:12-18 MSG

What more do we need?

I thank God everyday that HIS thought, ways and judgment are not like mine.

Father, i pray, may i be as merciful and accepting of others as you are of me for while i was still in my dirtiest most corrupt state you were willing to die for me and knew it would all work out.

How victoriously you conquered sin & death!

Now, Heavenly Father may I stay in a right relationship with you and may others decide to take your word & your witness as worthy enough to trust.
In Jesus name & for His sake,
may it be so,
