In Numbers 22:21-38 we read of a Donkey being a mode of transportation, oh not just a ride, but a means used by God to actually talk to a man.
There was a man named Balaam who had not listened to God the night before his trip, he wasn’t listening and seeing God’s message while on his trip so God intervened and caused his donkey to speak.
The donkey was seeing what Balaam didn’t see. Balaam’s donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand. The donkey bolted off the road into a field, but Balaam beat it and turned it back onto the road. (Num. 22:23,25,27).
Balaam tried using his staff, a stick, as a means of transporting a non-verbal message to his uncooperative beast.
It was then that God gave the donkey the ability to speak (Verse 28).
Surprisingly enough it wasn’t until after a two way conversation, yes a two way conversation with his donkey, that Balaam’s eyes were opened (Num. 22:28-31).
Has God ever used a donkey as a mode of transporting important information to you?
How about a jackass?
Maybe you need to learn to learn to “Kick against the pricks” in order to hear and see HIM rather than them. Look to The Sustainer (God) rather than at a container (His creation/humans/circumstance)
There has been many times in my life when what i considered an accident or an encounter with another jackass, that God has used that as a way to convey a life changing message to me. Amidst the mess there ends up being a message that i almost missed. I’ve stood there and argued with the donkey rather than really see what God wanted to tell me.
It is truly amazing to me how many ways God can speak to us, how many things and situations He can use as a mode of transportation.
