- Shepherd,
- Makes me lie down,
- Leads,
- Restores,
- Guides.
Now Note the next 3 verses God’s part Psalm 23:4-6:
- With us
- Rod and staff (form of defense, guiding and discipline (know the rod is to defend sheep from wolves & staff is shepherd’s crook to keep us from cliff, guide us in right direction & keep us under His care)
- Comfort,
- Prepare,
- Anoint-er,
- Overfills (complete satisfaction),
- Gives goodness
- Gives loving kindness
- Follows us to the end
- Provides an eternal home
What is our part in this relationship with our Shepherd?
Look at the first 3 verses of Psalm 23:1-3
- Not wanting,
- Laying down in a comfortable spot,
- Led,
- Quench of thirst,
- Restored,
- Guided.
Now the last 3 verses, Psalm 23:4-6 our part:
- Walk,
- No fear,
- Comforted by comforter,
- Peace at the feast (able to eat in front of worse enemy),
- Anointed by the anoint er,
- Cup overflows (totally satisfied) like in verse 1 (no want),
- Being followed by His goodness,
- Being followed by His loving kindness,
- Followed all the time,
- Have an eternal dwelling/home (John 14:1-3)
Pressing On,

I was formerly a drummer now i am just an Instrument.
I taught Sunday School this past weekend from this verse. I went in a similar yet not exact way. You’ve just opened up a totally different outlook to this scripture that I hadn’t considered.
Thank you!

Tom, I enjoy going deeper in Christ with you. Your humble approach (as a child) opens our outlook and possibilities, banishing our self imposed limiting beliefs. Two things our seminary was not strong on: 1. How to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit and 2. How to live passed our mistakes and brokenness. I am glad we finally did learn how, even if we had to take the rough road to get there. Love you brother, keep living, loving and leading with eternity in view!

I plugged in my name every time I came across a personal pronoun (my, me, i) as I reread Psalm 23.
Wow!
What a mighty God we “serve” and oh how he provides for me/us.
Sharing that with the “whosoever” is such a thrill.
Bless the Lord! !!
